The General Prosecutor’s Office (GPD) had earlier exonerated seven other people from the same group on the ground that no plausible evidence had been presented against them. The court has ordered the confiscation of all the computer systems, stopwatches and other electronic devices found on them.

The case goes back to last Sunday when the law-enforcement authorities caught the entire group, while they were allowing some of their compatriots to make international telephone calls at normal domestic calls rates. The accused worked in different shops like grocery stores, private shops selling construction materials, fruits and vegetables stores, laundries and restaurants, besides car maintenance garages. The RAK Criminal Investigations Department (CID), in a swiftly coordinated move, raided all those premises located in different parts of the emirate, and carried out the arrests.
