The three-day exhibition is being held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Now in their 12th year, the two shows have attracted around 950 exhibitors representing 1,500 brands from 55 countries and the latest products and services from across the beauty and personal care spectrum.

"Over the next three days at the Wellness and Spas show, we will be showcasing the latest trends and popular treatments within this burgeoning industry; such as medical spas, aromatherapy and relaxation techniques," said Susan Amin, Exhibition Manager, Messe Frankfurt, organiser of the BWS.

"Medical spas are predicted to be the next big trend within the industry and could take a substantial slice of the healthcare market, the current regional spend of which is $74bn (Dh272bn)," she added.

BWS will be also promoting health through fitness, with a dedicated sports aerobics area called 'Pulse', showcasing the benefits of a good workout as an ideal way to help maintain the optimum body weight.

The exhibition will feature of a number of interactive competitions such as the Walk of Beauty and the Nail Competition. The Walk of Beauty will pit the region's leading hair-stylists in a race against the clock to create a winning style, culminating in a catwalk parade with models showcasing hair styles.

The BWS is a trade-only exhibition and will run from May 20 to 22 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, from 10am to 7pm daily, spanning halls one to four and Zabeel Hall.

The exhibition will be open to public at 4pm on May 22, but those under the age of 16 won't be allowed.
