The driver of the bus probably could not see the parked truck because of the heavy fog, police sources said.

However, the bus driver was taken into police custody and investigations were on to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.

Colonel Hamad Adeel Al Shamsi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department in Abu Dhabi Police, said the injured students were treated at Al Mafraq Hospital and later discharged.

Col Al Shamsi urged the motorists and school bus drivers to be careful while driving, specially at this time of the year when visibility is poor due to fog.

He also asked the officials at the Emirates Transport Corporation and other transport companies to instruct the drivers to take precautionary and safety measures while plying the streets.
