These students were not enrolled earlier due to the budgetary constraints of the council.

Only 4,853 students were accepted in order to allow the students the opportunity to pursue their higher education and ensure a better future for them.

General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the President of Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) issued a decision to accept these additional students in the HCT after they were refused admission as the educational costs exceeded the budget, council sources said.

"It is not a new initiative from His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to boost our students.

'“We also thank General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces on his efforts to support our students," Mubarak Al Shamsi, General Director of the ADEC said yesterday.

He added that the ADEC will monitor the level of the students during the next academic year 2006-2007 according to the monthly reports provided by the HCT.

"The total number of the students in the HCT now is 6,018," said Dr Tayeb Al Kamali, Vice Chancellor of HCT.

He noted: “We are really happy at the unlimited support for our students from Shaikh Khalifa.

''I advise the students to avail of this opportunity and do their best to achieve their objectives and lead a successful life."
