The distribution of 1,008 houses among residents who have applied for new houses in Al Ain’s suburbs started on February 9 with the handing over of the villas in Al Salamat and Al Yahar.

The inauguration of the handing over of these houses began in Al Yahar’s wedding hall built by the government for the residents in the area.

“Each villa has been constructed for about Dh1.3 million on an average for over 900 needy families in the suburbs of Al Ain City. The project also includes other infrastructures such as roads, parking areas, community centres like wedding halls and schools. The houses have been built and is being distributed under an Emiree Decree issued by the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan under his capacity as the Ruler of Abu Dhabi Emirate,” a senior official from Al Ain City Municipality told Khaleej Times.

According to him, 80 per cent of the villas have already been handed over since February 9 and the remaining being distributed. He also said some of the beneficiaries include large families.

The municipality has been tasked for the construction and distribution of these houses. Dr Mohammed Mattar Al Nuaimi, Director-General, Al Ain Municipality, said: “This project affirms His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s firm commitment for the betterment of his people. All these houses are being distributed among needy people free of cost.”

“The Al Ain Municipality being part of this development through the provision of appropriate infrastructure is compatible to what is characterised by the Government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi as one of the best five governments in the world for best provision of services to the population, society, and development,” Al Nuaimi added.
