A 10-year-old student escaped her kidnappers and bravely fought them with a help of a ball-pen she had with her. The girl, 10, was returning home from school in Mandaluyong city, Philippines, on Monday, when three men in a white van grabbed her and pulled her into the vehicle.
Police officials were quoted in Philippine Star that the men forced her into the van and covered her face with a foul-smelling handkerchief at around 12.55pm.
The alert girl noticed that one of the men was busy talking on his cell phone and taking advantage of the situation, she stabbed him with her ball-pen.
Moises Villaceran, senior superintendent of Mandaluyong police, said "She stabbed one of the suspects with a ball-pen, rushed out of the door and ran straight to her house." Villeceran added that the girl stated if confronted, she could easily identify her kidnappers.
The girl's father reported the incident to the police and an investigation has been initiated to nab the kidnappers. The CCTV which captured the incident shows the failed kidnapping bid but the faces of the men are not seen in the video as they were sitting inside the vehicle.
Moreover, the police have traced the vehicle through its number plate but are not revealing it as the investigation is pending.
