ABU DHABI — Ten people were killed and 23 injured in fires triggered by road accidents across the country during the Eid Al Adha holidays, according to police.
Captain Jamal Al Jaidi, head of Information and Morale Guidance, Directorate-General of Civil Defence, blamed the rise in car fire incidents on lack of proper maintenance and absence of fire extinguishers inside the cars.
He said the Civil Defence and traffic authorities were coordinating to urge motorists to acquire a fire extinguisher upon renewal of car’s registration.
