As UAE's Vice-President seeks a status report on the Arabic language and its future from researchers and experts, here are a few fun facts about one of the world's most popular languages.
> It's the 5th most spoken language in the world

> 24 countries consider it official language

> 300 million plus people speak it

> It is 16 centuries old

> There are three broad categories of Arabic: Modern, Quranic and colloquial

> There are 100 words to say 'camel' in Arabic and 11 for 'love'

> Even though letters are written from right to left, numbers are written from left to right

> Arabic has sounds that don't exist in other languages

> English has many words of Arabic origin: Racquet, alchemy, alcohol, algebra, algorithm, etc.
