Sharjah used car dealers protest against towing away of their vehicles

SHARJAH — The owners of used car showrooms in Abu Shagara gathered yesterday at the Sharjah Municipality office to protest against the civic body’s move to tow away used cars parked in non-parking zones. The protesters demanded an immediate solution to the cars towed away by the municipality as the action had resulted in losses in business.

Ajman disconnects power supply to bachelors’ flats in residential areas

AJMAN — Power was disconnected at labourers and bachelors’ accommodations in Al Bustan, Al Zahra, and Al Nuaimiya areas by the Ajman Municipality to force them to move to the Industrial Area. Due to complaints by the public and a report published in your favourite No.1 newspaper Khaleej Times on December 29, 2005, about the disturbance and insecurity caused by the labourers in residential areas, the municipality has decided to move them to industrial areas.

‘Night-only shifts will cut down heatstroke cases’

AJMAN — The number of heatstroke cases reported last year in Khalifa Hospital in Ajman dropped by 40 per cent as compared to the previous years, according to Dr Abdul Kareem Hilimi, Head of the Emergency Section of the hospital, who attributes the drop in cases to the mid-day break for workers introduced last year.
