The skin around my cuticles is constantly messy. Do I need professional help or is there a natural solution? A colleague told me red grape juice is great for exfoliating skin around the nails. Is this true?

  • Aishwarya
Fruits help to cleanse and exfoliate the skin so, yes, red grape juice may well be effective. I would recommend another remedy, however: take half a teaspoon of sugar and a teaspoon of olive oil; mix well and add a few drops of lemon juice. Apply around your fingers and scrub off after 15 minutes. Olive oil nourishes the skin, lemon juice cleanses it, and sugar exfoliates the dead cells, making skin soft and smooth. Do this once a week to see a marked improvement in your skin.
Do you know of any effective anti-ageing beauty routines?
  • Name withheld
Our skin needs a healthy diet of fresh, green vegetables, fruits, fibre and low-fat protein to fight the effects of age. Add 10-12 glasses of water to your everyday routine and a brisk walk of at least 30 minutes, 5 times a week. Cleanse your face regularly with milk pads, followed by a thorough rinse; then, apply a mask of a teaspoon of honey mixed with two drops of lemon juice. Leave this on the skin for 20 minutes before rinsing with cold water. Milk is rich in lactic acid, so it will help exfoliate and cleanse the skin. Honey is a rich moisturiser, and lemon cleanses and tones the skin.
The skin on my heels is always flaking off and looks quite disgusting and dry. Please help!

Mix together one tablespoon of coconut oil, a teaspoon of lemon juice, and half a teaspoon of glycerine. Apply this regularly on the dry, flaky skin to improve its quality and moisturise the area. Coconut oil is wonderfully nourishing, and glycerine mixed with lemon juice will help repair the damage.
My teeth are yellow. I could go to a dentist to whiten them - but do you have a natural solution for this too?
  • Mohamed
Sprinkle baking soda on your toothpaste before brushing your teeth everyday; this will help brighten and whiten them - the natural way.
My hair is thinning and has a flyaway look most of the time. I'm tired of having to either tie or pin it up all the time. I want to be able to wear it down more often, without having to worry about how mad I look! What should I do?

You will need to make a hair mask with coconut milk for this. Soak one tablespoon of fenugreek seeds overnight. In a blender, make a paste of the seeds and add half a cup of coconut milk to it. Massage the mix well into your hair and scalp. Rinse after an hour, and do this twice or thrice a week. Coconut milk nourishes the hair and fenugreek seeds will help improve circulation and stimulate hair follicles.
