The 'Dangal' actor has shed light on his choice to skip film award ceremonies, emphasising the value of time
Every morning, I crawl out of bed at 6am and get the kids ready for school. After the kids are out the door, my husband and I go for our daily walk and enjoy a canoe ride down The Palm. By 9am, I'm heading over to Splash 'n' Party to start my busy day of work, juggling different departments and finalising details of the day's parties. By 4pm, things wind down a bit and I start looking forward to spending a couple of hours with the kids. It's only after 7.30pm, when the children are tucked into bed, that my husband and I get some normal time in front of the TV, although that time slips by quickly, and then it's back to another busy day.
What is the favourite thing about your job?
When I see the smiles on kids' faces, I know I'm doing something worthwhile with my life.
What is your #1 personal principle/success mantra at work?
Being a dedicated, honest and strong leader will make you successful in any profession. Strengthening your skills, building relationships and, most importantly, being self-motivated will ultimately give you satisfaction in your work and life.
What do you do to maintain a work-life balance?
That is the million-dollar question! Juggling home and work is not as difficult as it sounds if you have discipline. As long as you respect your boundaries, understand what really matters and are able to switch off from work once you reach home, everything will be fine. I normally work five to six hours a day, as I have two kids and I want to spend as much time with them as I can.
Name one skill you think every professional should have.
Sales skills. No matter what line of business you are in, being a good sales person is important. As a professional, you will always need to be able to sell ideas, project roles and cooperation. In order to do so, you have to be able to communicate really well. Being able to speak with conviction can make or break your career.
If you had one free hour in the day to relieve stress, how would you use it?
I would run to the nearest spa for a massage and a power nap!
What inspires you to work better?
When you know you've done something well, are appreciated for a good job and are able to simultaneously enjoy yourself in the process - that's when you know you're on the right path. And that's what I'm always aiming for.
What is your greatest dream professionally?
At the moment, it would be to open a second Splash 'n' Party amusement centre - once I find the perfect location, of course!
If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it?
I would try some riskier investments in the hope of striking gold. But I don't think it would have any other major impact on my life.
