The injury to the exciting young batsman Lokesh Rahul has opened the door to veteran Gautam Gambhir. The 34-year-old batsman was recalled to the Indian Test team after a gap of two years on Tuesday night.
The latest development has lifted the spirit of Gambhir fans who almost gave up hopes of seeing their favourite star in the Indian Test team again. But now the big question remains.
Will the 2011 World Cup hero get to play? Or will he warm the bench?

Shikhar Dhawan, who has been struggling with the bat in recent times, will obviously be considered for the role as well for the second Test match at the Eden Gardens against New Zealand in Kolkata.
Indian coach Anil Kumble was diplomatic when asked on who will partner Vijay at the top.
"It's actually nice to have Gautam back," Kumble said at a Press conference in Kolkata on Wednesday.
"Unfortunately Rahul got injured in the last Test match. I think something's happening with the openers. For some reason they are getting injured. Vijay got injured in West Indies. Now Rahul. It's unfortunate. Rahul was batting brilliantly.
"But having said that Gautam has done really well in domestic cricket. He is a part of the 15. I don't want to give away anything. All 15 are available for selection."
Nevertheless, Gambhir was delighted to be back in the Indian team.
"Excitement of a debutant, certainty of experienced, nervousness of a novice...am feeling it all. Eden here I come loaded with ambitions," Gambhir tweeted on Tuesday night.
"Nothing beats playing again for d country. Test cricket, whites, red ball and India cap again. Thanks @BCCI, thanks 2 all for d prayers," said Gambhir in another tweet.
Gambhir also thanked Shahrukh Khan for his constant support. Shahrukh is the co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders - the IPL team Gambhir captains.
"Tks @iamsrk bhai. Your wishes are so, so dear to me. More power to u. Loads of love to children especially d rock star AbRam," Gambhir said in another tweet on Wednesday.
Twitter has been flooded with messages for Gambhir from his fans as well as cricketers.
While Kumble is keeping his cards close to his chest, Gambhir fans can't wait to see if he actually gets to don the India cap again on Friday at the Eden Gardens.
