9 MON The second intallment of Mahmovies, a series of black and white films at the Jam Jar is held tonight. Head down to Al Quoz to see Last Year in Marienbad, a 1961 film in which a debonaire man tries to convince a woman at the Marienbad Hotel that the two had a previous relationship. This movie is more about the cinematography than the plot.

11 WED Syrian artist Ahmad Moualla’s large-scale paintings are on display at the Green Art Gallery for less than two more weeks. The layered, colourful calligraphic works appear scattershot and random, but the artist says they were very carefully designed. Go and see for yourself if this is an improvement over Moualla’s previous work depicting conspiratorial groups of people.

Until November 20, Green Art Gallery, 04-3449888

12 THU Collectors beware. Memorabilia opens this week at the Vindemia Gallery in the Kempinski in Mall of the Emirates. The exhibition features loads of Hollywood-kitsch: a signed Michael Jackson poster, records and posters from the musical Grease. Art it is not, but the show should stir up plenty of nostalgia.

Until November 16, Vindemia Gallery, Kempinski Hotel
