Georgia, settled between two gigantic forces, would hardly catch the eye of a traveler who just decided to check the map and choose a new destination to explore. No, dear traveler, it is not the American state; it is a small Eurasian country, called the balcony of Europe. You are now probably wondering what is so exceptional about it. I would say: what is not?
Let's start with Tbilisi, capital. Follow the Rustaveli Avenue, down to Freedom Square, listening to the wind of change. This is how its winding streets sound. Cultural diversity is real uniqueness and the treasure of this city. As Georgia is surrounded by so many different cultures, no wonder it won a lot of beautiful attributes from each neighbour. Deeply complicated history has gifted Georgia with marvelous heritage of culture, architecture and art.
Roaming the adorable streets all over the Tbilisi is turning in a real adventure with each step. During this journey, you will encounter Tbilisi's famous baths. According to the legend, Tbilisi was born thanks to its thermal water, after the King Vakhtang Gorgasali's falcon flew across the water. Even the name of the city is derived from the word "warm". Tbilisi's baths are dating from 1st century and they were a part of the culture in each period of the city's life. Today, you can find five baths and in order to experience local life, you can't miss any of them.
There is a saying in Georgia that every guest is God sent. Georgian people developed tradition of an extraordinary hospitality. Their houses in the past had special guest rooms, or even separate houses, where guests could come, eat and spend a night. According to their traditional literature, hospitality is appreciated even more than heroism. This trait of Georgians' personality will make you feel at home.
Adventures and adrenaline seekers will doubtlessly enjoy this magic country. Rafting on the Pshavi's Aragvi River is a must thing to do in Georgia. Only one hour drive from the capital, you will find yourself lost in the alluring beauty of the river's valley. Magic, glamorous, fairy.
It doesn't stop there. In a small town Kazbegi (officially named Stepantsminda), with the fanciful silhouette of Gergeti Trinity Church (Tsminda Sameba), you are on the way to encounter mountains of the poetry. Kazbek Mountain is a dormant stratovolcano and one of the major mountains of the Caucasus. It is associated with the most famous Georgian myth. There was a boy born with a golden tooth and the symbols of the Sun and the Moon on his shoulder-blades. Half-god, half-human stole a divine fire and gave it to the mortals. In punishment, the gods chained him to a cliff in the Caucasus Mountains sending an eagle to ravage his liver every day, since it would heal at night. No, it's not Prometheus; it is culture hero of a Georgian epic, called Amirani.
Sitting in the balcony of the Europe, you will simply enjoy scenic nature in one of the most beautiful countries on the earth.
