During just another night (November 26), when Dubai smashed another Guinness World Record for 'Most mechanical energy produced by pedalling on static bicycles in one hour', we spotted the now  '44-years-young' Mogens Jensen of Discovery Channel's Everest: Beyond the Limit fame. He was one of the volunteers present at Burj Park who participated in the world record breaking event.
We got in touch with him post the event to find out the reason why he volunteered to participate in the event just like many others. But first, here is a little bit of back story about him. Jensen is an asthmatic, who bicycled and ran 11,500 km through 13 countries from Denmark to Mount Everest basecamp located  at an altitude of 5100 meters. He covered this journey in 100 days, during 2004/2005.
If you think that's too much for an asthmatic, wait for this. He then went on to stand on the top of Mount Everest, the earth's highest mountain on May 22, 2007. And yes, he did it without the support of canned oxygen.
Forward nine years, the man who climbed Mount Everest doesn't seem to ever rest! After an illustrious career of working as a personal trainer for many elites in his home country, Denmark, Jensen, who has been a Dubai resident around 6 months now, is in the city to do the same here. When quizzed as to why he chose Dubai from other cities in the world, he answered, "I have been a big fan of Dubai and been inspired by what's happening in here. I feel there is one thing common between me and Dubai. That is, if we set our mind on something, we go for it!"
The man who has achieved so much, now wants to work towards motivating others to push their limits and achieve incredible things in their lives. "That's my Everest nowadays." He says that he wants to pass on the mantra he has lived by to people that he comes across in life - which is, "If you want to achieve the impossible, you should be willing to do the incredible." He has hence ventured into being a motivational speaker. Talking about what inspired him at the start of his journey, he said, "I once read the quote, 'Be the change that you wish to see in the world' by Mahatma Gandhi that changed my outlook towards life and inspired me. I then changed my perspective towards being an asthmatic and wish that others too get encouraged to not see it as a setback."
