11th edition of Indian Basketball Society League set for take off

The 11th Indian Basketball Society League (IBSL), backed mainly by long-time supporter Berry Hills, will begin on Friday at the Salah Al Deen Indoor Sports Hall, near Century Mall, Duba - first tap 4pm.
Blue Rhine Eagles and Hustlers will play the opening match in the the men's division followed by the Hoopers-Titans clash, also in the same category, on the opening day.
The IBSL, the single biggest tournament for expat cagers in Dubai will see invited imports, former state and national players, and upcoming talent based in schools in the UAE, will run through the weekends till the summit rounds on June 3, at the same venue.
The league cum knock out event is managed and run by the Indian Basketball Society which is a registered entity with the Indian Business and Professional Council, Sharjah, affiliated to the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce. The body is  voluntarily administered by basketball coaches, past and present, and physical education instructors, and the officiating is looked after by qualified Filipino and Indian referees, including ones with Fiba international certification conducted here by the UAE Basketball Association.
Of the 34 teams taking part in this edition, nine will battle out for the blue rib and title in the men's division. The women's championship this year sees four sides and in the under 19 inter school boys' division eight teams have confirmed their entries. Another eight sides are scheduled to take part in the under 13 boys division while five outfits will vie for the handsome trophy in the under 13 girls division.
