Zulfiqar Khan was unlucky to miss out on a well-deserved century by a mere three runs but his innings ensured Asics CC romped home to a brilliant 7-wicket victory to lift the second Total Solutions Building Material T-20 League title organised by Umm Al Quwain Cricket Association.
Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Dubai Strikers openers set the ball rolling with a reasonable start.
Binay Raj Menon (15), Abdul Basith (16), Vinu Ramachandran (26) and Girish (33) ensured the run rate kept ticking.
Couple of wickets did put brakes on the run flow but Niyaz Hussain and Thanu Krishnan scored an identical 20 in contrasting style before Sharath Nair blasted two sixes to score a quick 6-ball 16 as Dubai Strikers amassed 170 for nine in 20 overs.
Waheed Ismail, Masood Hamid and Muhammad Ruwaid all picked up two wickets each for Asics CC.
Chasing a strong total, Asics could not have asked for a better start as the openers Zulfiqar and Arshad Hamid showed blistering form. Notching up brisk half centuries, they put Asics very close to the victory line.
Zulfiqar was brutal among the two as he fired 97 off 43 balls. His innings was peppered with 12 hits to the fence and five over it.
Arshad played the perfect second fiddle as he notched up a deserving 51 from 48 balls studded with four boundaries and a six to ensure Asics CC comfortably reached the target with still three overs to spare.
Sharath Nair claimed two wickets for Dubai Strikers.
