Unicon, Al Badar impress

Unicon Realestate defeated Hologram Players to qualify for the knockout stage of the UAQ Gold Cup Season-1.
The tournament, which is organised by the Umm Al Quwain Cricket Association, was held under the supervision of the Emirates Cricket Board and played under the auspices of the Ajman Cricket Council and Domestic Cricket Development Committee.
Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Hologram Players managed only 128 for nine in 20 overs. Ali Ahmed topscored with an unbeaten 33 while Ajay George and Shaan E Alam chipped in with 18 and 15 respectively.
Abu Baker was the successful bowler for Unicon Realestate claiming four wickets while Naseebullah bagged two.
Chasing a modest target, Unicon Realestate were led by a fine half century from man of the match Naseebullah. His innings of 54 came off just 33 deliveries consisting of four boundaries and a six. Mian Tahir gave a fine start with a 23-ball 36.
In another match, Al Badar Cricket Club scored a four-wicket victory in a high-chasing match against Thrissur Tigers to register their second successive victory. Batting first, Thrissur Tigers were powered by a superb batting performance from Renjith M Ramanchennath who pummeled a brilliant 149 from only 69 deliveries. His innings was studded with 19 boundaries and five sixes.
Krishna Kumar fired a 27-ball 46 as Thrissur Tigers piled on 229 for three in 20 overs.
In reply, Al Badar Cricket Club openers Jarnail Singh cracked fine half centuries to give their team a rousing start. Jarnail Singh blasted eight sixes and three fours while Sumeet Kesavan hit a 29-ball 69 peppered with 11 hits to the fence and two over it.
Hassan Nasir carried on the good work as he scored a fine 45 from only 19 deliveries before Amit Kapoor provided the finishing touches cracking an unbeaten 23 from just 12 deliveries supported by two sixes to ensure Al Badar crossed the line in the penultimate delivery.
