Al Ain prevailed over Al Wasl 4-2 in the President's Cup quarter-final and manager Zlatko Dalic believes his target is achieved with the semis berth being secured at the Al Jazira's Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium on Thursday night.
"It was a tough game for us. Al Wasl are a very good team and theycame back twice. We conceded towards the end of the full time, whichis unacceptable. We conceded because we lost concentration. But at the end, thankfully we achieved the target."
"With the AFC Champions League and the President's Cup, the playershad much on their mind. I told them to relax and at the end we were through," he said.
Regarding few decisions - a crucial penalty was given in favour of Al Ainand another one denied to Al Wasl - he said it was not his style to comment on referee decisions.
"It's not my style to make comment on what referee does. Al Ain have been at the receiving end many times but I have been quiet in the past too."
Regarding Asprilla-Hugo Viana skirmish, Dalic said: "Sometimes he gets involved in too much show. I am not happy with such show. Suchincidents should be avoided."
He also pointed out the lack of possession as an area to improve.
"Maybe we didn't play well. We didn't have enough ball possession but we have achieved our target," Dalic added.
Meanwhile, Al Wasl caretaker manager Salem Abdelrahman - in charge after Argentinian manager Gabriel Calderon was officially given a 'two-day vacation' - ducked queries regarding the absence of the full-time. "The club was supposed to make a statement today but have decided against it," Abdelrahman. Calderon is most likely continuing his 'vacation' as the club was supposed to make a statement once the Argentine returned. The suspense continues on the status regarding Al Wasl manager.
