600 shuttlers in 28 categories including former nationally ranked players from Indonesia will take part

The 39th India Club UAE Open Badminton Tournament 2016, backed by Global Hawk Imaging & Diagnostics LLC  took off on Monday night at the club's four-court indoor facility.
A record number of more than 600 participants are taking part in 28 categories including former nationally ranked players from Indonesia who are based here in the senior men's open.
The tournament was inaugurated by K. Muraleedharan, Deputy Consul General of India in Dubai in the presence of Reena Kamlesh, vice chairperson, India Club; Dr. Nawab Shafi Ul Mulk, director, Global Hawk Imaging & Diagnostics LLC; Sunil Singh, member of the board of trustees, India Club and head of the Badminton Tournament Committee; Gazi Al Madani, Dubai Sports Council and BWF representative in the UAE, players and other officials. 
As a part of India Club's drive towards Corporate Social Responsibility, matches will be conducted for the special needs students of SNF Development Center, Dubai Autism Center and workers living in accommodation units here.
Mulk, a former nationally ranked state player in India, said: "It is always a joy to be invited here on the stage as a sponsor and I am very happy to be part of the Open for the second straight year."
The other supporters for the event are Yonex, 106.2 Hum FM, Consolidated Shipping Group and Carrera Sunglasses & Super Vision Opticals, among others.
