The UAE-based Desert Rangers team started off the season with another successful tour to England where apart from finishing runners-up in an age group tournament, they managed to attract more attention from the scouts of leading Premier League outfits in the UK.
In the Super Cup championships in Manchester, the Desert Rangers under 12 squad finished in silver spot in the Challenger Cup, and they also visited and played at the Blackburn Rovers academy, courtesy of Moorland Private School, Clitheroe England.
Jonathan Harrison, the head of Moorland, an exclusive private school with soccer as one of the priorities in its curriculum, was in the UAE on a talent scouting trip last season. Star player Jordan Adetiba who earned himself a scholarship at Moorland from this academic year had another great summer and won the skills final competitions at both the Bobby Charlton Soccer School Manchester, as well as the Manchester United Soccer School (residential - Denstone).
Dubai-based Adetiba, who is in the Nigerian under 14 national team probables list and has been called up for training in Lagos, will now be going to Manchester in November to take part in the Manchester United Soccer School World Skills Final, part of which will involve a half time appearance on the pitch at Old Trafford on a match day.
He will also be taking part (for the third time) in the Bobby Charlton Soccer School International Skills Final in August 2016.
Five Desert Rangers players, including Adetiba are now in England attending the school. Moorland will also soon be announcing a partnership/link up with Blackburn Rovers.
"This is a new turn for me after Dubai. The team is doing well indeed and I am looking to live up to the trust and backing from my parents and my new school. Hopefully all of us will turn out to be good professionals one day," Adetiba told Khaleej Times.
Additionally, Moorland is the kit sponsor for the Desert Rangers for the 2015/2016 season.
