Al Nasr cruised to a 3-0 win over Al Wahda in the concluding round 18 match of the Arabian Gulf League played Saturday late evening at Al Maktoum Stadium.
The match peaked after a rather sedate first half where both teams lacked accuracy to finish the few chances that came their way.
Al Nasr coach Dan Petrescu's 62nd minute decision to replace misfiring striker Salem Saleh with Jassim Yaqoob infused life into the match.
Al Nasr earned a free-kick on the right wing near the touchline, it was taken short before playmaker Abdelaziz Baradda crossed into the box. Defender Mubarak Saeed broke the offside trap and headed from short distance, but Al Wahda goalkeeper Rashid Ali saved with his feet. The ball fell to substitute Yaqoob who hit a fierce left-footed shot that went whistling into Ali's goal to break the deadlock in the 74th minute.
With quarter of an hour on the clock, Al Wahda pushed further to try to get an equalizer, leaving spaces at the back, and Al Nasr looked to take full advantage and in the 83rd minute, Petrescu was at it again with another astute change, taking off Ahmed Khamis and replacing him with Rashid Mohammed.
Within four minutes Rashid got received a cross from left winger Kembo on the edge of the penalty box and laid it to fellow substitute Yaqoob who curled it accurately into the far corner, adding his second of the night.
In the dying minutes, Rashid Mohammed found club captain with a through pass that Al Wahda's Sultan Al Ghafri failed to clear. Mubarak collected the ball and rounded keeper Rashid Ali before netting a third goal effectively ending the tie in the first minute of added time.
Al Wahda made a last-minute attempt through Ismail Matar but Shambih saved it to ensure his side get the three point and keep a clean sheet on the night.
Al Nasr jump two places into sixth place with 25 points, overtaking Al Shabab as well as Al Wahda, whose goal different fell below that of Al Nasr after the heavy defeat.
