Al Nasr have officially announced the signing of Moroccan international Abdelaziz Barrada.
The Blue Wave, who finished fourth in the Arabian Gulf League last season, revealed the news on their official twitter account on Tuesday night. "Al Nasr Football formally announces the contract with the 27-year-old Abdelaziz Barrada for three seasons," the club tweeted.
Barrada, who represented Abu Dhabi club Al Jazira for one season, will don the number 10 jersey vacated by Chilean Luis Jimenez, who departed the club to join Qatar Stars League side Al Arabi after last season. "I'm happy to sign with Al Nasr and I hope I can live upto the expectations of the club and the fans," Barrada said in French, in a video message.
"I thank the chairman of the club and the fans and I hope I can live up to their trust. I hope to win many titles with Al Nasr," added Barrada, who moved from French Ligue 1 club Marseille.
Earlier, last week, Al Nasr had reached an agreement with Marseille to sign Barrada, who made 22 appearances and scored 10 goals for Al Jazira in the 2013-14 season.
Barrada's signing will significantly bolster Ivan Jovanovic's squad as they prepare for their first ever foray in the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League. The Oud Metha club are set to take on Qatar's El Jaish on August 24.
Barrada began his career with French club US Sénart-Moissy before making 43 appearances for the Paris Saint-Germain 'B' team. He then went on to play for Spanish side Getafe 'B' before earning promotion to the main team. After his spell with Al Jazira, Barrada joined Marseille where he made 33 appearances.
