Al Wasl spikers rout Qalmoun in AWST

The Women Arab Sports Tournament (AWST) hosted by Sharjah saw more victory for the UAE in volleyball on its third day with Al Wasl winning against Lebanon's Al Qalmoun 3-0, while Jordan's Olympic won against Palestine's Ebdaa 3-0. In basketball, Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) beat Baniyas in a two-UAE-team match 104-49, while Algeria's Olympic won against Bahrain's Al-Najma 64-59, and Egypt's Sporting won against Qatar's Qatar Ladies Club 51-37.
Athletics competition results saw Bahrain ranked first, winning 10 medals, seven gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
Algeria ranked second winning nine medals, four gold, three silver and two bronze medals. Yemen ranked third, winning five medals; two silver and three bronze medals. UAE ranked fourth with two silver medals. Egypt ranked fifth winning four medals; one silver and three bronze medals.
The UAE won silver in the 10-meter shooting competition, Bahrain won gold and Kuwait won the bronze medal. Individual results of the same competition were; Bahraini Moza Ali ranked first, followed by her countryman Aisha Buraiki who ranked second place and the Emirati Wafa Al Ali ranked third.
On the third day of AWST a forum for female sports media persons was held, under the slogan "It's your turn". The forum came up with five recommendations for helping more women in to sports media. Secondly there is a need to work on increasing the role of women in sports journalism and have more workshops that relate to sports journalism. Cooperation between media organisations needs to increase to enable women's sports more broadcasting time.
