Al Wasl have had their pool-phase fixtures in Group C of the GCC Club Cup confirmed ahead of the forthcoming 2015-2016 season.
The Cheetahs - who are pitted against Bahrain's Al Hidd, Sur of Oman and Saudi Arabian outfit Al Faisaly first up - last competed in this regional competition three years ago, when they finished as the eventual runners-up to Bahraini winners Al Muharraq under their then-coach Diego Maradona.
Wasl will travel to Hidd initially on Wednesday, September 16th prior to entertaining Al Faisaly a fortnight later (Wednesday, September 30th) at Zabeel Stadium here in the emirate. They'll then play host to Sur on Tuesday, October 20th before a four-month break until the return encounter on UAE soil on Tuesday, February 9th 2016. The reverse fixtures subsequently conclude with the corresponding home game against Hidd on Wednesday, February 24th and the trip to Al Faisaly on Tuesday, March 1st.
Bani Yas, who won this tournament themselves in the 2012-2013 campaign, are also scheduled to compete in Group B alongside Kuwait's Al Arabi, Al Arabi of Qatar and Saudi Arabia's Al Fateh.
Arabian Gulf League (AGL) sides have enjoyed an enviable record in the GCC Club Cup of late, with domestic teams from these shores having won six of the last eight editions since 2007. The winners from the 2014-2015 term, Al Shabab, won't be back to defend their title this time around though as their third-placed finish in the AGL has seen them qualify for the Asian Champions League.
