Peace and Sport Forum all set for Dubai take-off

DUBAI — The programme and special activities connected with the Peace and Sport Forum-Dubai 2013, was announced at the Dubai Press Club (DPC) on Wednesday.
Events for the international forum cover cultural, social and sports activities.
The forum will be held for the first time in the Middle East on April 23 and 24 under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council (DSC).
The event is being organised by the DSC in collaboration with Peace and Sport International under the slogan – ‘Together sport … build sustainable peace’, and is expected to witness high-level participation by decision-makers, sports personalities, and political and community figureheads from abroad and here.
The Press conference on Monday was held in the presence of Khalid Ali bin Zayed, vice-president of the Organising Committee of the Forum Chairman of the Executive Committee; Mona Bu Samra director, DPC; Munira who is responsible for events associated with the Forum; and Rashid Al Kamali general coordinator of the Forum.
Khalid Ali said: “The organisation of this event is part of the pivotal role played by the UAE in achieving and consolidating world peace under the guidance of The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.”
Mona said: “The DPC supports all such events to promote Dubai and to confirm its position as a centre of excellence and innovation in various fields and destination for the federations and international organisations.”
The latest programmes include cycling on April 8, a workshop at the American University of Sharjah on April 9, a festival of Peace and Sport in Abu Dhabi on April 15, and a Peace and Sport Exhibition of works of art on April 21.
