Turkey's Omer Karaevli, aboard Rabane De Sury, completed the course in a winning time of 62.06 seconds in the Dubai Cup-Qualifier in the Dubai Showjumping Championship at the Emirates Equestrian Centre.
The contest serves as the qualifier for the Emirates Airline Dubai Grand Prix FEI World Cup. The class included a field of 46 competitors with prize money of Dh120,000 being offered.
Karaevli leads the field for today's final session. David Will of Germany, who won the Emirates Airlines Two Phases on Thursday, won second place as he guided Monodie H to a time of 63.38. Close behind in third was the Italian rider, Andre Sakakini and his horse HW's Saskia with a time of 63.60
Earlier on the opening day, Will won the Dh80,000 featured class over a field of 31 international riders. Aboard his mount Monodie H, Will completed the jump course in a decisive time of 34.99. Frederic David of France, who was runner up in the opening Dubai Equestrian Club Welcome Stakes, finished second on Baloussini in 39.33 while third place went to Ferenc Szentirmai of Ukraine in 39.59, astride Chadino.

The opening class of the Dubai Equestrian Club Welcome Stakes featured 40 contestants and was won by Norbert Schumann of Romania aboard Lady Blue in a dominating time of 32.71. France's Frederic David finished second as he guided Saxo De La Roque to a time of 36.04. Close behind in third was Marion Hughes of Ireland astride Laith with a clocking of 36.12.
