The team bus of the second division soccer team Erzgebirge Aue was involved in a violent traffic accident on Thursday. The bus was hit by debris from a car accident on the way to Nuremberg, where the game is to be played at 1. FC on Friday. "Fortunately, none of our players and coaches were physically injured," the club said in the evening.
The newspaper Freie Presse published a photo of the accident site on the A72 near Hartenstein, on which the bus stands about 100 m in front of the badly damaged car on the roadside.
"I just found out about the accident. A vehicle came flying, several parts hit the bus. Fortunately, none of our team was injured. We will now distribute the players on minibuses and continue our journey to Nuremberg for the game on Friday." Aue President Helge Leonhardt said the picture.
According to the new press, the two occupants of the car were slightly injured, the team got away with the terror. "The players are of course in shock. The bus is still coming to the workshop today. We will then try to organise another bus for the return trip from Nuremberg," said Aue managing director Michael Voigt the picture.
Meanwhile, encouraging words came from Nuremberg. "We hope that everyone involved is doing well and that we will all face each other tomorrow at the Max Morlock Stadium," the club wrote on Twitter.
