Windies all-rounder Darren Sammy of Pesahwar Zalmi and slow left-arm bowler Mohammed Nawaz (Quetta Gladiators) praised their coaches and mentors after the Quetta Gladiators defeated Peshawar Zalmi in a closely fought duel that was contested till with a ball to spare, late Sunday night, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Preparing himself to lead the Windies in the T20 World Cup in India shortly, Sammy said: "This just goes to show the kind of competition we are involved in at the moment. The pitch tonight (Sunday) in Dubai was a different proposition altogether after our experience in the first two fruitful outings."
He added: "Must compliment the team spirit of Pesahwar Zalmi, and the experience of consultant Grant Fowler who has managed the batting aspects so well for us. He has led us to believe in ourselves. See the low scores in the PSL so far. The Dubai pitch is low scoring and not where scores of 190 plus are common like on pitches elsewhere on the cricket stage. We scored low tonight (Sunday) but were able to stretch the match till the last ball."
Nawaz, the man-of-the-match for his three wicket haul, said: "I am so lucky to have two great personalities in our midst to guide us. To start with, to be playing with Kevin Pietersen and then have Vivian Richards on the support bench with us is something quite unusual. These two greats can propel us into bigger things in the PSL."
