England's former Test player Owais Shah has been named the team's coaching consultant on a short-term basis, a release by the Emirates Cricket Board stated.
Waleed Bukhatir, chief selector and Emirates Cricket Board member said: "Owais worked with the senior men's players in Hampshire, ahead of their Scotland campaign, and has built a strong understanding of their current playing abilities. We are confident this interim appointment will enable him to continue the work he began, ensuring their programme continues uninterrupted."
Shah will oversee the team's training to be conducted at the ICC Academy as well as the two-day game against the West Indies to be played Oct 3 and 4 at the ICC Academy. Shah will be assisted by the current Emirates Cricket support staff during this period. Shah's appointment will continue through to Monday, Oct. 10, according to a Press release.
Shah is well-noted as a 'fluent top-order' batsman. He made his first-class debut in 1996, and has represented England in all forms of the game earning 94* international caps across all formats. Shah retired from first-class cricket at the end of the 2013 season. He directed his focus toward being a T20 specialist, joining Hampshire for the 2014 and 2015 NatWest T20 Blast series. He has also played in the IPL.
