The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) suffered a major blow on Wednesday at the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting in Dubai.
The BCCI's opposition to revamped governance model was rejected 1-9, while its opposition to a proposed revenue model was struck down 2-8. For a fairly long time, the BCCI had opposed the international body's proposal of the revenue model, and at the meeting the other members squashed Indian board's hopes by voting against it.
Earlier, the ICC Board had expressed readiness to amend some of the decisions it approved at the quarterly meeting in February; especially in relation to the changes to its constitution and financial models. On the first day of the ICC Board Meeting in Dubai, both the change in governance structure as well as the revamped revenue model was put to a floor test.

The only country that voted alongside BCCI was Sri Lanka. "Yes, the voting is over. It was 8-2 in favour of revamped revenue model and 9-1 in favour of constitutional changes," a senior BCCI functionary present in Dubai said.
"The BCCI has voted against both as we had, in principle, maintained that all these changes are completely unacceptable for us. At this point, we can only say that all options are open for us. We would have to go back to our SGM and apprise the members of the situation," he added.
It was learnt that since BCCI outrightly rejected the  additional $100 million pay-out in revenue, it was once again given the original option of $290 million which is a $280 million cut from the $570 million India had been getting till last year.
With this, trouble brews over India's participation in the Champions Trophy too. On Tuesday, the BCCI became the only team that missed the April 25 deadline set for announcing the squad for the Champions Trophy with all the other seven countries already naming their team list.
Pakistan also named its team on Tuesday, which was officially the last day of submission of the list to the governing body of world cricket
