An impressive bowling spell by Ashraf Koroth (4-2-8-4) was the talking point of Idukki Icons five-wicket win over Wayanad Warriors in the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) played at the Sevens Stadium.
Wayanad were on the receiving end in their next match too when they were outplayed by Cochin Canons by 107 runs.
On the other hand, Malappuram Sultans came back in a big way from their defeat to Kollam Knightriders on the opening night, to post a comprehensive 5-wicket win over Kottayam Kings.
Wayanad won the toss and decided to bat against Idukki and before they could even bat an eyelid they lost both openers without scoring. Noushad TK stemmed the rot to some extent but there was no stopping Koroth from breaking their backbone. With some assistance from Shareef (2/20), the duo had Wayanad cornered but for Noushad's 28 and Saqlain Syed's 21 which helped Wayanad reach 99 all out.
Even that was not good enough as Azeem Ashraf slammed an unbeaten 34 and Yasir Kaleem struck 23. Man of the match Koroth contributed with the bat too chipping in with an unbeaten 15 to help Idukki win the match in 18.3 overs.
