The National Committee for Haj and Umrah will give smart bracelets with a GPS tracker to pilgrims upon their arrival in Saudi Arabia. The initiative is aimed to help pilgrims perform Haj and Umrah with ease as the bracelets will contain all personal data of the pilgrim including name, accommodation as well as maps.
Mohammed Bin Badi, National Committee for Haj and Umrah CEO, said the smart bracelets will contain all the pilgrims' data, and a GPS to lead them to their accommodations, hospitals, health centers and other important utilities in Makkah and Madinah. Badi added that the water-resistant bracelets will help pilgrims directly communicate with emergency numbers in the Kingdom and will include a help desk available in different languages.
The committee is also considering roping in a transport company to collect pilgrims' luggage upon their arrival and deliver them right at their accommodation. Badi said the committee is also considering to establish a shareholding Umrah service company to upgrade the services being extended to the pilgrims, reported Saudi Gazette.
