In a fine example of devotion and dedication, a 104-year-old woman from Indonesia has reached Jeddah for her Haj pilgrimage.

Baiq Mariah is the oldest among the 220,000 Haj pilgrims from Indonesia this year, The Jakarta Post said.

Mohammed Hery Saripudin, consul general of the Indonesian Consulate in Jeddah, said that Mariah is in good health and will be able to perform her Hajj rituals without any problems, Saudi website Arab News reported.

She was provided special assistance when she departed from Indonesia, and some officials departed with her to ensure a safe and smooth flight. In Saudi Arabia, too, Mariah has been provided with special assistance by the local officials.

There are some one million Muslims waitlisted in Indonesia to perform Haj, Saripudin told Arab News.
