UN resumes Syria aid delivery after attack

Geneva - The United Nations suspended land deliveries after the convoy attack, which the Syrian Arab Red Crescent says killed a staff member and around 20 civilians.

A "clearly marked" UN convoy was due to deliver aid on Thursday to besieged areas near the Syrian capital after a 48-hour suspension to review security guarantees following an attack on relief trucks near Aleppo, a UN spokesman said.
"Today, we are sending an inter-agency, cross-line convoy with urgently needed aid to people in a besieged area of Rural Damascus. We have resumed aid deliveries based on the humanitarian imperative," UN humanitarian agency spokesman Jens Laerke said in a statement.
The UN had suspended deliveries following the Monday attack on a humanitarian convoy that killed around 20 people, including a Red Cross staffer.
