Dubai - Amitabh Bachchan made a whirlwind visit to Qatar for a little over six hours but his short visit will be remembered for a long time.

Crowds thronged Kalyan Jewellers' much-anticipated launch of seven showrooms in Qatar at Al Khor, Abu Hamour, Barwa Village, Garafa, Al Rayyan, Asian Town and HBK Signal. Popular film stars and Kalyan Jewellers Brand Ambassadors Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Prabhu Ganesan and Manju Warrier regaled the huge crowds at the showrooms marking a historic launch of Kalyan Jewellers in Qatar.
The stars were overjoyed with the massive turnout of over 50,000 fans and yet, a bit overwhelmed with the magnitude. The audience was completely star-struck with the popular movie stars. Remarkably, the appearance of Indian cinema's biggest icon Amitabh Bachchan, who has a huge fan following in Qatar, created frenzy, with crowds jostling to get a glimpse the Indian film icon.
Amitabh Bachchan made a whirlwind visit to Qatar for a little over six hours but his short visit will be remembered for a long time. He landed in Qatar at 11am on Kalyan Jewellers' private jet - the Embraer Legacy 650. Amidst tight security he proceeded to inaugurate the showrooms at Garafa, Al Rayyan, Asian Town and HBK Signal along with the other ambassadors. Earlier, the showrooms at Al Khor, Abu Hamour and Barwa Village were inaugurated by Nagarjuna, Prabhu and Manju Warrier.
Bachchan said: "This is my first trip to Qatar and I am overwhelmed by the affection showered by the people of Qatar. I promise this is not the last trip and I am going to come again. We have all come here for the opening of Kalyan Jewellers' showrooms. My relationship with Kalyan Jewellers goes a long way. I believe that you will love them and support them the way you have been supporting me over the years. Aakhir vishwas hi sab kuch hai! (sic). I hope I get to see you again." This was received with loud cheers and a thundering applause. The stars greeted the crowd and thanked them for the support.
T.S. Kalyanaraman, chairman and managing director, Kalyan Jewellers said: "It was wonderful to see huge crowds at our showrooms and vindicates Kalyan's popularity as a preferred jewellery brand in the GCC.
