“Yalla Walk — Every Step is a Reward” initiative, announced by the Dubai Municipality, will start its registrations on Monday through the website www.yallawalk.com and walking tracks of Safa, Al Mamzar, Al Barsha, Al Khawaneej and Zabeel parks.

The initiative supported by Al Maktoum Foundation and Al Fattan Properties will kick off at the beginning of Ramadan in the public parks. The move is aimed at educating the public about healthy habits during Ramadan, raising charity funds and encouraging people to walk in any of the walking tracks across Dubai.

The launch of this initiative came after the good results and reputation of past Yalla Walk campaigns, organised by the civic body and widely acclaimed by all participants. This initiative is expected to be the largest awareness campaign that attracts the public to the walking tracks in Dubai.

The Yalla Walk initiative was established to promote walking as an easy and economic way to stay fit and healthy. The municipality has provided residents with safe and accessible walking tracks in both urban and rural contexts.

Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, said that the initiative aims to help the needy and promote walking as well as to support charity under the slogan “Each step is a Reward’. The doors are open for institutions and individuals to help raise the charity fund by supporting the municipality in this initiative.

Participants can raise funds merely by walking. The more participants collectively walk at any of the walking tracks; the more funds are raised for charity. Distances will be recorded on individual pedometers, supplied to participants upon initial registration to use during the walking. The distance walked can be updated through website or SMS or by calling 800 900. The participants can collect their welcome packs along with register number from the parks.
