Dubai residents and visitors will have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to create or break nine world records at the upcoming Ramadan Night Market, which begins on June 1.
The record-shattering campaign is a result of a collaboration between Sumansa Exhibitions, which organises the market, and the Guinness Book of World Records. All nine contests are divided into three broad categories: Talented Thursday, Foodie Friday, and Sing it Saturday. Some will be individual attempts, but many require teamwork.
On Talented Thursday, for example, visitors will race against time to reach the goal of creating the most painted handprints in one minute, paper aircrafts made and most pencils stood on end in one minute.
On Foodie Friday, attempts will be made at assembling the maximum number of hotdogs and building an Arabic coffee cup pyramid. Lastly, Sing it Saturday will see contests that feature the most body taps in one minute, and the maximum number of musical instrument images identified in one minute.
"Dubai residents love pushing the envelope and creating history and the new activities will certainly spark their imagination," said Samantha Cordeiro Miranda, Deputy General Manager - Marketing & Communications at Sumansa Exhibitions. "Time will be of the essence for the participants to take on challenges amidst a supercharged crowd. We have created separate themes for each day of the contest to include many areas of interest."
The Ramadan Night Market is between June 1 and 10 from 8pm to 2am at Dubai World Trade Centre, Halls 7 and 8. The entry fee is Dh5, while children under the age of five get in free.
