Saudi a safety valve: UAEs Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed

Riyadh - Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum meet Saudi's King Salman in Riyadh.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, held a meeting on Friday at Al Auja farm in Riyadh.
During the meeting, they discussed fraternal relations and ways to strengthen them, and also tackled the latest regional and international developments.
At the outset, while welcoming Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed and his accompanying delegation, King Salman expressed satisfaction at the level of the cooperation between the two countries.

The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince conveyed to King Salman the greetings of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his best wishes to the Saudi leadership, and more progress and prosperity to the people of Saudi Arabia.
King Salman asked Shaikh Mohammed to convey his greetings to the UAE President, wishing him good health, and more progress to the people of the UAE.
They discussed relations and outstanding efforts of the two countries to strengthen their strategic cooperation on overall issues affecting the security and stability of the region, with emphasis on ensuring their common interests and enhancing the efforts of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab States (GCC), and safeguarding Arab rights.
Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed stressed the depth of fraternal ties between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, referring to the strength of cooperation and solidarity against the challenges experienced by the region. He also spoke of their shared vision to achieve security and stability, and to confront the dangers posed by terrorism and extremism.
He commended King Salman for ensuring the best interests of the GCC and for backing Arab and Islamic issues.
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi underlined that Saudi Arabia represents the main pillar in maintaining the security and stability of the region. "Saudi Arabia is a safety valve, given its continued efforts to defend the Arab interests and its commitment to the cohesion and unity," he added.
The meeting was also attended by Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai; Shaikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser; and Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, attended the meeting.
King Salman hosted a banquet in honour of Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed and his accompanying delegation. It was also attended by the Saudi Princes, ministers and senior official.
Meanwhile on the UAE side, the event was attended by Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation; Dr Thani bin Ahmed Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment; Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State; and Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council. - Wam
