Single Indian man seeks permission for 'mercy killing'

Pune - He wrote to CM Maharashtra narrating his despair of having an unstable career and lack of marriage prospects.

A 35-year-old man from Pune, India, has sought state permission for euthanasia over his unstable career and lack of marriage prospects. 
The man wrote a letter to the office of the chief minister of Maharashtra state, Devendra Fadnavis, seeking permission to end his own life, reported HT. He sent the letter a fortnight ago, narrating his despair over not being able to do anything for his aged parents, besides his unstable career and lack of marriage prospects, said a senior police inspector investigating the matter.
According to the police officer, the man had written about his ailing mother who is around 70 and his father who is 83. "He felt that he is not able to do anything for them. He was having problems regarding marriage too. We counselled him. The man is well educated and is from a well to do family," police said.
Euthanasia is the practice of intentionally ending one's life to relieve pain and suffering. There are different euthanasia laws in each country.
