The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai in cooperation with Emirates Identity Authority implemented successfully the electronic gate system service (E-gate) on the identity card. With this initiative, card holders can opt to use their ID card at Dubai International Airport Terminal 3 arrivals for more convenience. Moreover, holders do not need to activate this service at the Emirates Identity Authority prior to travel.
Major-General Obaid Mohair Bin Surour, Deputy Director of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, said that Emiratis and the UAE residents could use their valid ID card through the e-gate system in Dubai International Airport Terminal 3 at the arrival.
He pointed out that passengers arriving through the Terminal 3 will be able to use their ID cards to enter more swiftly using the e-gate system.
"There were 28 e-gates in the arrivals building of Terminal 3 where holders can use the convenient service without the need to pre-register or pay any fees, but must have a valid identity card."
This is the first stage of the navigation e-gate system being put to use using the identity card. The service will be implemented on all the other terminals in the near future.
Brigadier Talal Al Shanqeeti, Assistant of the Director-General for airports, pointed out that the use of the Emirates ID card at the e-gates is a vital project.
"It is a high-tech system, easing arrivals and departures at the airport."
