Summer rain and dust storm hit parts of Dubai, Al Ain and the northern emirates while it was hot and humid in the capital on Friday.
Heavy downpour was reported over Al Khawaneej area in Dubai and Habshan Al Dhafrah in Al Ain while light to moderate rain was experienced over Al Awir in Dubai and Jebel Hafeet in Al Ain. There were also light showers over Al Dhahir and Umm Ghafa, east of Al Ain city and rain showers over some parts of Sharjah.

Also in Dubai, rain and windy conditions were experienced in Rashidiya, Mirdif, International City and Dubai Sports City while Deira and Al Ghusais experienced also had moderate rainshower.
Other parts of Dubai that did not experience rain were affected by blowing dust that caused poor visibility to less than 2000 meters in some areas.
In a tweet, the Roads and Transport Authority called upon the motorists "to be cautious while driving in several areas of Dubai due to the strong winds and rain."
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), fresh northeasterly winds and towering clouds formation associated with rainfall caused blowing dust and dust suspension until 10pm on Friday.
An NCM official said morning humid weather conditions will continue in western areas on Saturday but it will be hot during the day and hazy at times.
"The amount of clouds will increase over scattered areas with a chance of rainy clouds by afternoon in eastern areas extending to some southern regions too.
Southeasterly to northeasterly wind with speed of 20 to 30km/hr, reaching 45km/hr at times will cause dust storms. The sea will be moderate maybe rough at times during daytime in the Arabian Sea and moderate in Gulf of Oman," the official said.
Giving an outlook for Sunday, he said the weather will be hot to very hot with partial clouds over some areas.
"Some low clouds will appear eastward, may become connective by afternoon. Southeasterly to northeasterly wind with speed of 15 to 30km/hr, reaching 38km/hr at times will lead to dust storms over some areas. The sea will be slight to moderate," he said.
The sea, according to MET official, was moderate to rough at times in the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman.
The maximum temperature recorded on Friday was 48.4 degrees Centigrade at 3pm at Madinat Zayed station
Meanwhile, it was humid weather in the Capital but the cloud formation increased over the due course of the day in western and eastern parts of the Capital. Dust storms were also reported from outer areas of the city.
Al Ain resident Girish Pant was surprised with the sudden change of weather. "I was travelling to sports complex when it rained in Al Hili. This is so refreshing. I hope the climate stays like this for next few days," he told Khaleej Times.
