Tropical storm Kyarr intensifies into cyclone: NCM

The NCM is closely monitoring the situation.

Tropical storm Kyarr deepened into a category-1 tropical cyclone over the Arabian Sea with a wind speed around 130 - 140 kmph, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) said on Saturday.
The cyclone is very likely to move west-northwestwards towards Oman coast during the next five days.
However, the tropical storm will have no effect on the UAE, the NCM said.

In an earlier tweet on Friday, the NCM said, "A tropical depression in the east of Arabian Sea, with wind speeds of 130-140kmph, is likely to intensify into a tropical storm with wind speeds of 90-100kmph in the next 24 hours. It will also turn west to northwestwards."

The NCM is closely monitoring the situation.
Sharing today's weather report, the NCM said: "The weather is expected to be fair in general with temperatures expected to reach highs of 39°C internally and 38°C on the coastal areas."
The winds will be light to moderate Southeasterly to Northeasterly, freshening at times, with a speed of 15 to 25 kmph, reaching 35kmph.

The sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and in the Oman Sea.
Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department on Friday said that 'Kyarr' is very likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm during the next 12 to 36 hours.
According to the weather department, the sea condition is very likely to be high to very high over the east-central Arabian Sea around the system centre during the next 12 hours and phenomenal thereafter.
It is very likely to become phenomenal around the system centre over the west-central Arabian Sea from October 28 to 31.
The speed of gale wind reaching 90-100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph is prevailing around the system centre over the East-central Arabian Sea. It is very likely to reach 100-110kmph gusting to 120 kmph during next 6 hours and 120-130 kmph gusting to 145 kmph by October 26.
The wind speed may increase, further becoming 170-180 kmph and touching up to 200kmph by Sunday morning around the system centre, it said.
