Abu Dhabi's Yas Island on Monday announced the launch of a new water taxi service that will ferry to and fro from various locations and around the island.
This facility is in addition to the Yas Express shuttle service and the ADCB Bikeshare network powered by Cyacle. This service will improve connectivity among major attractions around Yas Island and Abu Dhabi.
Aldar Properties on Monday reached an agreement with Jalboot Marine Network for the launch of the service.
Aldar Properties CEO Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak said the new water taxi service will add significant value to the existing communities on Al Raha Beach and the main city of Abu Dhabi, future residents of Yas Island, and tourists alike.
"As we seek to continually enhance the experience of those living and working in our prime destinations, this will be yet another milestone that improves peoples' lives," he said.
The water taxi will be an extra mode of transport for residents of Raha Beach, including Al Muneera, Al Bandar and Al Zeina - heading to Yas Marina and Yas Links, in addition to other Island locations in the future. Miral Asset Management CEO Mohammad Abdalla Al Zaabi said the latest initiative will help connect the world-class destination with the rest of the Emirate.
"With this partnership, we're ensuring that the Yas Island experience is accessible to all visitors and Abu Dhabi residents - and that they never miss any of the action that awaits them on the island."
The service will also connect with the high-speed ferry service that Jalboot operates around Abu Dhabi City, stopping at Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi Mall, Etihad Towers and Fairmont Hotel. Emirates Consortium group CEO Chakib Bouayad said the partnership is part of firm's commitment to Abu Dhabi's 2030 Vision.
"I am proud of the strategic partnership among Miral, Aldar and our subsidiary Jalboot Marine Network, which will see an expansion of our existing services into the Yas and Raha Beach area with a local water taxi offering."
The service will operate 'on demand' around Yas Marina, Al Bandar and Al Muneera from February 1 to February 13, after which all services are to be implemented based on polling results gathered from interested individuals through a questionnaire on Jalboot's Facebook page.
Tickets will be available on board and no prior bookings are required.
