Motorists who've had their vehicles impounded should take note.
Every day you leave your -light- car in the impoundment lot past the stipulated end-date will be charged Dh50.  
If a motorist fails to take the vehicle back when the period of confiscation ends, the fine is Dh100 per day for heavy vehicles.
The maximum penalty accrued can reach Dh3,000 for either class of vehicle. 
Though the categories of traffic violations have been reduced, the revised federal traffic law includes a set of new fines and violations. Major General Mohammad Saif Al Zafin, assistant commander-in-chief of the Dubai Police Operations Department, said that the new amendments are more comprehensive and an old law that has been amended.
The list of penalties includes Dh3,000 fine for transporting inflammable materials without a licence, 24 black points and 60 days of confiscation. For transporting people without a licence, the car will be confiscated for 30 days. 
He reminded that Dh400 will be fined if parents do not provide car seats for children under four, adding that many people neglect this issue despite repeated the warnings.
The new list includes four violations involving heavy vehicles such as driving a heavy vehicle that would damage public or private facilities; jumping the red signal; causing overturning of the vehicle driven by another vehicle and the fourth for overtaking from a non-designated area. 
Al Zafin said that the fines for these four violations have been unified, which is Dh,3000 dirhams, in addition to the suspension of the licence for one year. He pointed out another important violation when motorists fail to follow "stop" signal by school buses which will incur a fine of Dh1,000 and 10 black points. Besides, a driver who hesitates to follow a traffic sign and cause a traffic jam will be fined Dh500 and issued 6 black points. The list also includes fine for the movement of vehicles in marches and rallies without approval and the fine will be Dh500, 4 black traffic points and 15 days of confiscation.
And for people offering illegal driving classes, Dh300 will be slapped as fine.
