Prof. Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), commended Dubai and the UAE for the nation's optimistic perspective of the future at the inaugural session at the fifth World Government Summit (WGS 2017) currently underway in Dubai. His remarks followed a speech by Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs & The Future and Chairman of the World Government Summit.

Schwab further elaborated on the challenges of globalism. Highlighting the changing global sentiment around capitalism and the uncertainty people feel about their future, he proposed new paradigms for governments and policy-makers to consider while making key decisions about the changeable future.

Cautioning governments about the ‘emotional turmoil’ in the world, he warned against the tendency to reject the changing system by simply going back to the old system of neo-liberalism or the other extreme – libertinism – an anti-system which tears down everything that creates any influence of government in private lives.
