Exploring the UAE's great outdoors can be exciting. Every emirate offers a different view and various places to see. Khor Fakkan is there for a run to the coast, Jebel Jais and Jebel Hafeet will be a treat for those that are craving for altitude, and there are also the many wadis all over the country.
Such trips, however take time, and careful planning. Safety must also be taken into account as there are multiple cases of weekenders losing their way. To prevent running into trouble, here are a few items you should take while you camp in the UAE.
Make your way back: 6 ways to avoid getting lost in UAE mountains

Short wave radio

A short wave radio is the preferred emergency radio by many outdoor enthusiasts. It is a must not only for campers, but also hikers and dirt bike riders. Emergency services can be contacted through the radio should any kind of emergency occur.

Water

Remember that the UAE is a desert country. Deserts are usually hot and the heat can be harmful sometimes. Ensure that you have a couple of bottles of water ready to keep you hydrated.

Torch

Fact: There is no DEWA in the desert, nor is there an LED TV, there is however a nifty torch that you can buy in any hardware store across the UAE. A torch will help you navigate your way in the dark and prevent you from falling or tripping. You can also use said torch for some amazing photos during the night, for example:

A multi-tool

A multi-tool is the bigger brother of the Swiss knife. It has bigger tools that are designed to take on the great outdoors. Apart from looking cool, it can also help you in a couple of things around you camp. MacGyver your way out of any situation!

Fire striker

It's not a camping experience if there is no fire! A fire will not only cook your marshmallows, it will also keep you warm. This is important because desert nights are particularly cold. To stave it off and avoid catching a cold, a fire is a must. Watch it in action below
