Meet the UAE CBSE topper who just broke an IHS record

Dubai - Coming out on top across the country, Savit beat off competition for the title against approximately 2,000 UAE-based students.

 It was great news all around for 17-year-old Dubai student Meghna Savit on Sunday, as she secured the UAE's highest results in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exams. But as if that wasn't impressive enough, the Indian High School (IHS) Dubai student clinched a record-breaking score among the girls in her school too.
Securing an impressive 98.4 per cent in the Science stream, the bright student has now set a new record among IHS girls by crossing over the 98 per cent mark.
Exam results in 2015 and 2016 saw two female students score 98 per cent in the Science stream, but Savit has now topped that record.
Speaking to Khaleej Times she said she still can't believe she's the country's topper.
"My father actually broke the news to me at about 10am this morning. I was taking a shower but when he told me the score, I thought he was kidding."
She said the "sense of surprise" continued as she received a call from her school, declaring her the UAE's highest topper in the CBSE exams.
Coming out on top across the country, Savit beat off competition for the title against approximately 2,000 UAE-based students.
"I just kept checking and checking to make sure it was right. Being called to the principal's office is always daunting, but this time it was for a very good reason," her father joked to Khaleej Times.
When asked how she plans to celebrate, Savit said a family dinner was in order, but with her schooling days now coming to an end, she said the next step is to go on and study in India.
"I plan on going to India to get admission to the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) or the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs)."
And for her, the long-term dream is to become the founder of her own start-up.
