The Sharjah Sharia court heard a case in which a 60-year-old trader was found dead in his flat last Ramadan, after he remained traceless for days. Later, the police had launched a probe and found that he was murdered by an Asian man.
Attending the court hearing, the victim's brother and family members told the presiding judge Hussian Al Ousovi that they will not accept blood money and pardon the accused, while demanding qasas - capital punishment - for the killer.
The court heard testimony of the victim's brother who said that he saw the victim for the last time in his shop which deals in perfume. He added that he came to know about his brother's death after he received a call from the Kwaiti hospital. Earlier, he had failed to get in touch with his brother as he didn't take calls and also didn't turn up at his shop.
He said that he was shocked when he learnt that his brother was killed. He added that he had seen the accused once in his brother's flat when he came to fix the curtains. The victim was a divorce and had no children. He had a good reputation in the society and had no enemies, his brother told the court.
The court adjourned the case to June 14 to hear the witness.
