A cleaner, who tried to kill a compatriot by stabbing him twice in the stomach, was sentenced to three years in prison on Monday.
The Court of First Instance found the 42-year-old Bangladeshi man guilty of an attempted murder charge and ordered his deportation after he completed his sentence.

He denied in court the attempted murder charge.
The incident was reported on September 3, last year, to Al Rafaa police.

The court was earlier told the victim was rushed to hospital by people around and had to undergo life-saving surgeries.

During investigation, the accused admitted he stabbed the victim twice with a knife he had kept under his trousers belt over personal issues.
A police sergeant said they spotted blood on the defendant's shirt. "He had tried apparently to wash the blood off his clothes but some marks were still there".
The victim identified the accused at the police station.
The ruling may be appealed.
